Mouthwash CorrectlyMouthwash can be a nice addition to your oral hygiene routine, but to gain maximum benefit, make sure you use it correctly.

  • Use the amount recommended on the label. If you use too little then you might not get the most out of its use and if you use too much then it can simply be a waste. It can be a hassle to measure it out each time and a pump dispenser could be worth considering.
  • Read the label before using a mouthwash for the first time as some may recommend you dilute them with water. However you shouldn’t water down mouthwash unless specifically directed as otherwise you could reduce its benefits.
  • Swish it around your mouth for the correct amount of time. This is normally between 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Finish your oral hygiene routine with mouthwash as it will help to wash away any particles of food that may have been loosened by brushing and flossing.
