Teeth whitening has become one of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures of the last decade. It is a simple cosmetic dental procedure that can give your smile a lift quickly and easily by brightening your teeth in as little as one hour. You can opt for immediate teeth whitening or a customised take home treatment.
Both procedures are considered safe and effective in removing deep tooth discolouration. In both cases, the specially formulated whitening gel gently penetrates the tooth’s layers to lighten the affected areas.

One-hour whitening - if you do not have the time and would like to have your teeth whitened in your lunch break this is the best method for you. Taking approximately one hour, the whitening process is accelerated through the use of a bright light, allowing you to leave our centre with a rejuvenated smile.
Customised take home treatment – uses custom-made trays that fit snugly over your teeth. The special whitening gel is applied to the ultra-thin trays and is worn for a period of 4 to 8 hours at a time, usually overnight while you sleep. For best results, you may need to continue daily treatment for 7 to 14 days, although you may notice a significant improvement after only a few days.
Using both techniques, you can expect the end result to be the same. The main difference is the time taken to achieve your desired outcome. The most common method is a combination of both, in which the take-home component is around three days. The results are rapid and long lasting.
Suitability for treatment
During an examination we will determine if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening. It is important that you have a clean, decay free mouth prior to the commencement of your whitening treatment. Tooth whitening is a simple and effective way to lift your smile. You will be surprised at the difference this can make to your confidence.
FAQ’s
How long will my teeth remain white?
This will depend on how you care for your teeth and the type of discoloration. The teeth will always be lighter than they were. However, some patients may need periodic whitening every one to two years, especially if you continue to use staining substances like caffeine, wine or tobacco products.
Are there side effects to the tooth whitening treatment?
Sometimes patients may experience tooth hypersensitivity or gum irritations from the concentrated gel. However, as long as detailed instructions are followed the majority of patients have no side effects.
